Young Frankenstein
This phrase came to mind
Out of the season’s time:
When the veil fails, speaking
Of Hallowe’en
This is what those of ancient
Lore believed—that gossamer-
Iron webs and steel-misty
Vapors held the other side
On a spellbound, ritualed
Line
Except for
This one time each year
I don’t know what this means;
The child in me didn’t
Care
I dressed colorfully, unusually
Looked through eyeholes
Of masks sweated ’round
The fabric on my face
I was young and relatively
Free
To run my neighborhood
Receiving chocolate reward
For feeling the thrill of cool
Air as more night rushed
Over my skin,
Through folds in costumes,
The faster that I moved

Cute rememberance of Halloween. Like that you put in the history behind and your personal history, collecting more chocolate. I wish more kids here still went house to hous, but many go to the malls now. Often we get our first snow fall around Halloween so for kids it can be cold.

Yeah, partly I’m talking about a Hallowe’en that doesn’t happen now. It’s fun to see neighborhood house-to-house visiting (for chocolate) when that happens. Our weather is certainly less intense. A couple of years ago, though, we had a snowstorm on Hallowe’en. It was the only snowstorm then. The following, official winter had none!
Thanks!

This is marvelously enjoyable–every word, every line.

Thank you! I appreciate that it’s a harder neighborhood experience to have.

My kids are born on All Hallows Eve, and they certainly have been taking delight in their double-chocolate intake (both treats and cake) 😀
Please have a marvelous week ahead!

Yes, they do get twice-treats! Cool for them (or, you know, the candy and birthday-cake monitors).
Have a great Tuesday and on!
