Pagsamo
Beggars can’t be choosers
If wishes were horses, then
Beggars would ride
Don’t look a gift-horse in
Its mouth
So we should beg for mouthy
Horses
And for wishes
I think I’ve begged, when I’ve
Been scared the most
I begged for life—I begged
For life with you
I begged more than once
For more than one

Fascinating poem. Pleading in the sense, you are not feeling all your needs provided for, it’d why you look a gift horse in the mouth. Why your speaker begs, it seems like he is sufferring greatly. Especially if he begged for life with God? Or maybe there was someone else he wanted to stay but did not. Intriguing stuff Christopher.

I was first thinking of begging for life with God. But I think we can beg for life with others, too. It’s going to work better with God, naturally, because we’re beseeching someone perfect. But our needs, as you note, can take us many ways to try reaching out in, well, many ways. Thanks for your insightful take!

Beautiful! The depth of his despair, the sincerity of his prayers.. I hope he gets what he so earnestly begged for- a life with her.

oh dear, Christopher. Such deep, sad, and intense emotions told in simple yet beautiful lines. Yet, some do beg for a life with someone.

Yes, sometimes we do beg for that. Good when it happens, anyway. I rather think symbiosis might be key. With measures of calm and peace in with the passion.
Your response is touching, Rosema. Thank you.

It is good when the beg is heed, but there might be something better when the bed was ignored. 🙂
You are welcome, brother!
