The Tell
In the future, should we have it
We might gather into upper rooms
Keepers of technology
With those of bread
To tell a story of
What was lost, was kept
Not forgetting that we write
New chapters in
Our saga
Rising, falling passages like
Exploration of an ocean
Something like discovery
Reconquest when we call for it
Removing home
There is a center with
A monument to keeping
We gave away so much
Forsaking clarity
We held too closely, crushed it
Everything that was a gift
Finding we had no real talent in
Adding to creation
When there could have been alliances
Finally, nothing’s lost
If it must change again
And we with it
We’ll have what we have
In keeping up with prophecy
Fields we didn’t have to fight. for
Nature in benevolence to share
Partnership with
The ground at last,
The sea and all its colonies
We have a place, if regulated
By our betters whom we knew
And would not recognize
And the better us
In time for staying
And for leaving

Gorgeous picture. Lake Louise is near to where I live; although, I’ve not been there in years. The photographer did an amazing job & so did you in this poem. It leaves the reader with a lot to think about, with hope that we can make and keep connections with other countries and peoples despite differing values & also without war or other battles. What are doing for Christmas this year, will you see your sister?

I thought of you when I found and used the image! Thank you for your comments about the poem. What could be better than encouraging folk to think? And that everyone would do better together than at each other all the time. I’m probably doing nothing special for Christmas. Enjoy the quiet, I suppose. I was at my sister’s recently, dog-sitting while the rest of the family went to Hawaii (I know). I did spend some time visiting with the humans. What shall you do for Christmas?

Hi Christopher. Thanks for thinking of me when you used the image. I wish you could see our beautiful mountains, you’d love them. I’m envious that you get to look after your sisters dogs, that sounds fun. I wish you’d been able to go to a Hawaii with your family too. But, I get that. I’m home at my mom and dads and we are celebrating the holidays here with the usual Christmas Eve snacks/dinner on Christmas. On Boxing Day ( the 26th, I’ve got to move out of my apartment & my fam is helping me. Sad about it, but my health hasn’t been stable and I can’t do that right now. Maybe I will be able too in the future or live at family’s house’s helping out.
I hope the holidays are enjoyable and that you are blessed by God this Christmas. May Jesus’ birth bring you hope and faith this Christmas, that you may find comfort in that and peace. 😊

Wow, moving. That’s a lot to do. I’m so glad you have help. I hope your health is or starts mending. Yes, I don’t mind taking care of pets so the family can go away. Typically, these are creatures I have known for years. So they only surprise me in the usual way. My family would have cheeseburgers and Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve because they were easy to make (the cookies were already at hand) and we were busy with church that night. My mother made this great coffeecake for Christmas morning. She made something with candied fruit, too, which I don’t like. But that’s okay. I’ll see some former neighbors tomorrow; otherwise, it will be a quiet day, which is fine. I hope you have a fine Christmas day and Boxing Day after. A blessed Christmas to you and your family!

I shall come back to this and reread in the morning. There’s an awful lot in this one to mull over.

Thanks Christopher you too. The cheeseburgers sound delicious for Christmas — who doesn’t love that for a treat 🙂 As does your moms coffee cake. I have to say I love short bread best. I found a great recipe back a couple of years ago. My mom had one too that is great too as I grew up, but not as melt in your mouth lol. Being a woman I’ve a chocolate addiction too. Dangerous addiction this time of year. Glad you had a good Christmas. Happy New Years coming up too. Can’t believe it’s 2020 too. I remember being 6 years old & it was 1991 thinking how far 2000 was away and then past that. Time does fly doesn’t it? Enjoy your New Years my friend.
