June Teeth
(19 June)
Don’t worry,
The current administration
Has no part in this
In fact, it doesn’t like you
Very much
Tips outside an open door
While behind it,
All the cronies gamble
For what’s left
In the real real, however,
You are wise
And rising
Except for violence—everyone
Stop doing that
There is greater power
In peace
(you know this)
And change that lasts
It is an important day
Make tomorrow important, too
And as your gospel roots
Might say
Do say
(because roots can speak)
Love one another

There IS a greater power in peace. May we all receive that power someday. Peace to you, Christopher. Shalom. I’m reviewing my Judeo/Christian heritage.

There are already far too many violent, trigger happy people on the side that is quite happy with the status quo. Violence plays into their hands. They can turn around and say, we told you so. I hope there’s change for humanity’s sake.

Yes, we’ve got to be less gun-crazy for one thing, said from the land of gun-craziness. I can’t imagine tearing someone’s life apart with a bullet and doing so in my neighborhood or the nearby town. Soldiering, I suppose, is one thing. But who goes to war except in the hope to secure peace? We fight so that it’s over. Yet when we think we have peace, then other violence is somehow appealing. And appealing anyway, as you say. The capacity for change is there, is here. If we’re going to go on, some change had better happen.

Thank you, sister! I’m thinking now I maybe should have added a note about what Juneteenth is, because it’s only in the USA, I guess. I suppose it’s easy enough to look up (hope so).
Your creative words are gaining power, sister!
