Interdependence Day
(4 July in pandemic time)
In the USA
It is a day
I wish we’d take it
Safely
But the things
That think (without thinking)
They’re in charge
Would rather
Have displays than safety
And noise
Whose irony inside
Will only waken the disease
We can celebrate
In other ways
The disease knows no politics
Neither should we
Today

Vain hope.

Yes, we seem to think the disease is over because we say so. The disease is spiking. Too many don’t care.

The young, rich and healthy probably won’t get it anyway, and the old, poor and ill, who cares anyway?

You’re right. It’s too easy to see and treat people who are not like us as objects, easy (as objects) to ignore.

Agreed! What foolishness is exhibited by human beings.

Too true. This should be the year of living carefully. Not a month to two months and then we’ve had enough.
I trust you and yours are safe and well, Cathy.

This should definitely be a year of living carefully. We’re all doing okay, just tired of the whole situation. Thanks for asking, Christopher. Are you feeling any better?

Thank you, yes, I’m feeling better, Cathy. The time between the more severe headaches is lengthening. I’m hoping this will be the trend.
