Raised to music

As was the hope in the

Medieval mind?

Maybe concerts on the steps

Here and now

Chancel, transepts, or

Narthex

A cathedral,

Meaning the bishop may speak

From there with

A bishop’s authority

Maybe now

It happens

Or there is holy waiting for

The building

To be finished

A lesson in unfinished

Holy families

Maybe I need a break

Go somewhere

Look at lights that others

Have put up

Phantom merrymaking

On my part

No, wait, they were put up

For me and others like me

To go by

To gaze at from afar

Appreciate the rainbow lights

Against the snow,

If snow,

Against the dark

Of night

Of loneliness

Of season’s night

Of season’s loneliness

That say, we’re here

And some of us

Are here for you

Holidazing

It’s a tarnish day outside

But I hope you have

A good day

You deserve it

For weathering in every way

The season

(in Australia, it goes to

the other way)

You are being careful, I am sure

With tasks and news

What needs doing

What can wait

And silence in between

When you might

Enjoy the stillness

Like untouched snow

On a hill

Before the sledding noise

Takes over,

Which like Currier and Ives

Will bear

Its own bliss

Something Borrowed

x

Something swashbuckling

Is on TV

Something with Burt Lancaster

Leaping

Like the lords at Christmastime

I turned to this

When what was on

Intentionally

Blacked out

Indicating maybe that

The TV is getting old

Like me

Sometimes I lose

My signals, too

The synapse breaks

I must

Turn to something else

Lessoning

If we pray

There will be answering

Not skywriting

(that would be nice)

Or writing on the wall

(not so nice)

Probably silence

For a while

Then something turns

On hinges

A piece of fabric twists

The wind shifts

Warm or cool

Pushing one way or

The other

Something

Somehow

Indicates direction

The asker might be the actor

Or others shift

And move that way

Somehow

(often changeably)

A way is formed

An answer

Every time

The El Yeso reservoir is a reservoir in Chile located in the Andes mountain range at an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level, in the San José de Maipo commune, Cordillera Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. Where we found incredible colors and tranquility.

Feed the Animals

(x = space)

x

Feed the Animals

x

I wish all cats

To be adopted

And dogs

And chinchillas

Guinea pigs

Hamsters

Snakes

(not with hamsters)

And everything

That makes a pet

x

The rest returned safely

To the wild

To wild places kept safe

x

I know we eat animals

And wear parts

Of them

I guess we have to

Though there are other

Sources of protein

And for leather

So that we could live well

Without the slaughter

x

There are industries

That would have to be

Taken care of

First and well

(keeping jobs,

well, transferring

maybe

transform

if not transmogrify)

Before such universal

Change

x

But we can do that

We can do so many things

We can do this

x

We can restore so many

Things

Establish new traditions

Remembering the old

Not in chagrin

But to say

We were that

Now we are this

x

coda

x

We’d have to feed our carnivores

The large and small

The wheel turns

Maybe there are substitutes

We’d have to find out

Very carefully

And thoroughly

I’m not sure what to say

Today

A day for remembrance

To respect a President

Who said so

And all the boys

And girls

To men and women

And civilians of all kinds

(were children killed?)

Who died

x

We can’t seek vengeance

Though we went for victory

And that tragically

Is fair to say

We made a war at home

That wasn’t there

Between the rubber drives

And paper drives

And rationed sugar

That was the war at home

We imprisoned

Our own

Now

Remembrance might

Be for learning, too

x

So we are always ready

For the next time

Properly vigilant

With reason

And with passion

x

Victory

Deserved

Marshall plans

After

Win

Too high a cost

We all agree

Rebuild the world

After

Bless the nation

Bless the world

x

Ready at war, which

Has been the

Burden of

A nation

Seek peace

Every day

The Peaceable Kingdom

(x = space)

The Peaceable Kingdom

(Isaiah 11:1-9)

x

Cheetahs wouldn’t have

To kill,

And they could run with their

Great speed for delight

x

There would not be war,

For everything we wanted

Could be gotten

In a better way

x

We’d have peace with each other;

We’d have so much

Extra time

To do good things

x

Peaceable admittedly

Is an antique word,

But it speaks to potential

To talent

And to quantity

x

Who makes this peace?

God does–

But what shall we have

In the mean time?

x

It’s in our time,

Our will

To make it happen

From able to have peace

To having it;

The worth is us and

Our mortal talents

x

The Earth burns,

Weapons are secretly supplied

To war:

It is crazed comfort

(in both aspects)

To wait for an apocalypse

x

We have now–

Heaven, in fact,

Might be waiting for us

Advent 2

x

Shall we light

Two lights from

One light

To move the meaning out

A little

To say this is a season, now

x

As the light is shared

So should we share

Our hopes

And dream

Intentions

For more light

Of our own making

For mercy

And a thoughtfulness

Toward love
