The Anchorite Paradigm
x
There is quiet
There is some noise
There is the right
Combination
Based on relative needs
And wants
So that the anchorites
Inside
Might thrive
x
I’m not sure
I can tell
Because I’m not she
Or you
Preparing for retreat
Or the quiet
Time
In every day
For God and one
And later on
A few more
Maybe many
If there’s a meeting
x
It has to be a merging
The world isn’t one thing
Or the other
Spirit
And flesh
Technology
Impulsive
Even pollution and clean air
Is the way we have things
Now
And for a while longer
Until something breaks
Like a good wave
And we have innovation
With tradition
And legacy
That’s in between
x
Breathe for selah
In our inventing
Wait a second for approval
Then move on toward
Another
Better
Newer
Defensible
Amen

General comment: there’s a difference between judging peoples’ souls and judging their actions. Not that most people demonstrate the distinction. Which makes fewer gray areas and our ability to see some things are plain wrong. Like late term abortion except for the life of the mother, for instance. And here’s another Truth. We are born meaningless. Nobody has any control over the cards they were dealt (and often those seemingly dealt wonderful hands are not at all); that’s an accident; it’s about what we do with our circumstances that matters. And one more: circumstances are irrelevant. It’s impossible for we peons to tell good ones from bad ones. The bad leads to good and vice versa. That’s where faith comes in.

Thank you. This especially resonates as I’ve spent many times in what is considered the last Anchorite cell here in Ireland. Powerful place. Powerful place to contemplate what you write about.
