Epiphaneity
Epiphany
Twelfth Night
Also
Orthodox Christmas
Yet in the west
We have the
Magi
Visiting
The child
With the mother
And adoptive father
And since
Liturgy
Respects only its
Chronology
We might mainly note
Today
The baptism
By
The cousin John
Of the child now grown
Now
Authorized by the
Spirit
As a dove
Then the child
Grown
Journeys into
Wilderness

do we love these people?
yes, we do
each one
every one
you have made it this far
now let us go with you
in everything
all circumstances
light and shadow
as God is there
we commit
to be there, too

(add now
our prayers and meditations
from our

Kitchen Sink Ritual
I turn on the hot water
And am thankful
I leave it on
Then wash some dishes
It gets hot
I leave it there
I hadn’t thought about it
Until a friend came up to dry
And told me how hot I
Let the water run
I trust his opinions
Maybe it’s masochistic
Scalding demons
Cleaning out the sins
Ersatz baptism
