Before
(iambic-ly)
Before the day gets too
Complex,
I’d like to say that
I am grateful for your love
I’ll think it later, too
But now it’s easier in time and wisdom
To remember, all myself,
That I am yours
And after

Pre-Lapsarian
As some thinkers say,
Before the fall, when
Woman and man had
Concourse without
Guile or agenda save
For pleasure in animal-
Naming and simplicity
In delight, listening-
Awaiting sounds of
Perfect feet on Eden’s
Brilliant plain; and if
They’d proved a nation,
We would have had
Ourselves a world,
Replete, by all mortal-
Divine promises to own
WELCOME EVERYONE!
Before you hop on here are the five easy steps to join Word-High July:
HOP ON and let’s all GET WORD-HIGH this JULY!
Before
In the still of day
When there is light but
Otherwise no other
Thing intrudes
Before I turn on the tube
(Yes, tube)
Or warm up the computer
Before I am reminded
What there is to do
I cease all preparations
To brake and break
(Both kinds)
With all
Rather to wonder
What might occur today,
Totally unexpected
Certainly not planned
A surprise
Delightful or disturbing
I won’t know
But I know what I’d
Choose for something
Or someone, new or
Anew, to come into
My world
