easy company
what shall I say
this
sabbath day
but believe in God
and so
be saved
while none get credit or commission
and can’t tabulate
but
that any should be saved
and so in absentia
hope
when all are there
to celebrate

waiting as in stillness plus
waiting as in serving
stillness
and serving
the God beside us

The Smallest Moves the Mountain
Faith like a mustard seed
Among
The smallest of the
Seeds
For
That distinction
Not
To say that faith is a small matter
But
To say that maybe it is nearly
Weightless in
A way
To believe in it
To take if on
Perhaps
It might be easy
Though the convert might struggle
Over time
And with the knees
At
The last
I mean
The start

Evangelion
By God
All things are possible
Though likely
Parametered
By will
And obligation
For God won’t do
Or let anything be done
But that which goes
As love
And for us
Prepares apocalypse
Someday
For
Frankly a final shot at reconciliation
And so
(before)
If moving mountains
Helps the cause
Then we
Will move them
Too
With our mustard seed of faith
For proof
Or reconstructing parks
West of Eden
Where
We
Or anywhere
Shall move
The peaks
Talk about God
And then go home

The Invitation
God is love
And if you wish to live with love
Then you could know the source
And be encouraged
Helped
In this life
To the next
And if you wish to live with hate
Then you could get to know the source
Of that
The nothingness
To have
In this life
And the next
That’s pretty much
The way of it
Love or
Its absence
Choosing one
Or the other
The rest is ignorance or luck
And it’s likely as you read
You will have neither
For your own
Lesson and
Salvation

take away the confessional and informative emendations and there’s one poem here with endings like certain music selections
x
Processionals
x
I think
Often of David
Of a picture
I have seen
Or made up
It’s when the ark
Is brought into
Jerusalem
And it’s a triumph
A kind of victory
x
And I think of David
Young
(and was he young)
Dancing
Before the ark
Not wearing much
But he’s king
And he arranged all this
And so
The instruments
Let play
And maybe favorites
Follow suit
x
I see light colors
As if this were a desert scene
Done as a picture
With pastels
You know
I think I figure the hair
On David
From the statue by
Michelangelo
x
Processions are important
He and they
Had to have one
Because the ark
Would have a home
Forever
Well
At least for generations
(I should
look this up
it might be before
Absalom)
But what do we know
Today is forever
And the
Ark is here
x
And Jesus came
Into Jerusalem
And a procession
Was needed
And so it was
Arranged
In humility
And somehow awesome
Awful majesty

I worked on this scene before as a draft; I have in mind I didn’t finish it, and this time I did; but if the other work appeared and I forgot, then I apologize for the repetition—CLC

David was a shepherd
He was a king
He was loved by God
As either
So are you
Loved by God
For either
Any
Way

coda 2
that was D. S.
this is D. C.)
x
Jesus came
Into Jerusalem
Like the ark
Meaning a triumph
Victory
For a home people
Battling
To keep a promise
x
And like the ark
Is lost
Defeat
And sacrifice
Through lack of faith
(bad kings—you may
look it up)
And so sacrilege
And a new needed
Promise
Follows
(read the prophets)
For restoration
Of the people
x
Turns out
It’s Israel
And all of us
Redeemed
Through this
Second coming
Triumph
Then sacrifice
This time as well
And
Cosmically speaking
Greater
All the world
And how far out
On the edge
x
With destruction
Turned to joy
With all our flaws intact
Until a final resurrection
That will keep
Us and the world
Intact
And better
And forever
x
Stone not only
Rolled away
But smashed
Here endeth
And look
And listen
Smell
And taste
And touch
This is the start
And we might think we do
But we don’t know
What’s next

Poor Evangelist
x
I am a Christian
x
I hope anyone who
Needs to know
For good or ill
Knows that
x
The things is
I don’t mind if you are not
x
In fact, if you are from
Another faith
I’ll find that interesting
And want
To know
Something of your story
x
It’s bad evangelism
I know
And I’ll be glad
Typically
To tell you more about my faith
x
But I am entrenched
(without the trenches)
With respect
x
I want
To respect your tradition
Or your lack of one
Or somewhere in between
x
I think this is what we need
In the world just now
x
With respect,
We might withhold our fingers
From the buttons
x
We might shut up our cant
Or rant
Instead to listen
x
Stories are personal
And of a people
x
After and while happening,
Most stories deserve
To be heard
x
Shut down the hate
To hear
And have your circle of perspective
And acceptance widened
x
Hope to be treated
The same way
And that the Earth will hold
Together
From our destructive devices
Not only military
While we listen
And by impulse,
The way we are constructed,
Learn
x
To say
To welcome
And to hear

Peace to You
(John 20 and elsewhere)
x
Peace to you
The teacher showed up saying
Peace
If God appeared
In the room
We were in
Then words of peace
Might be needed
To still our hearts
And keep them working
x
God shows up
In the room
Alive in every way
(later we’ll share meals)
Except in expectation
For we had thought
Never to see
Or hear the words again
x
Scars from nails
And a spear
Maybe the marks of thorns
On the brow
God appears again
God with us again

Folk at the center of the world

While those outlying
Hear the story

There is life again
Three days’ waiting
We weren’t counting
We forgot
All prophecy
And understanding
Thomas,
God lives again

Give It Up
x
How childish
I sound to myself
When I think
Cynically
Cynical is futility
We have
Que será será
It is what it is
For defense
A shield from
Reality of change
Rather settling
Into the world’s wisdom
Trying on
The burden of
A chain
That has no chance
For change
No hope here,
Thank you
Only resignation
You want change,
Talk with
The cult meeting over
Somewhere
One side of the Galilean
Waters
Or the other
