kairos in chronos
God is here
Immanuel
with us
we give seasons to
the coming and
arrival
which is fine for giving color
and collective
things to do
but the coming and arriving
and the leaving and
returning
all
are with us
which we might have better understand
when we were forebears
and the child
be
in the painting with all others wearing
dress of the time
the child depicted with all the miracles as well as
soteriology
provding
child
grown-up
teacher
crucified
and
God
and aren’t they all together all the eras
all the ages
that we own on our own
plus
forever thinking

Grace is sufficient
It is miracle
It is salvation

It is surprise
Totally untimed
Kairos, never chronos

So what shall we have?
Salvation’s disguise
They seek it here

They seek it there
We have a

Or while the saving

Enough awareness
For our

And our hero’s
Gone,

…Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.…

All Souls, a Poem
A remembrance of those who are far on
And yet, like Patrick’s breastplate, who
Are over and around us
Above, below, on either side
We are not alone this day; we are
Accompanied
By those whose earthly, counted time
Is done, who
Live in kairos now
Kairotic time, the time of God
Souls, the spirits
of un-never-lived, live
On, live now, live well
Until unmeasured time
Without measure
Ends
