God grant

Peace for friends

And good days

Well-deserved

Because they are

x

No pre-requirements

Beyond existing

Now

On Earth

Today, hopefully

Into tomorrow

All right, so an anti-disposition

Toward causing pain

In others

Wouldn’t hurt

x

But beyond that

Simply be today

And have good days

Without because

I believe

And so should appeal to God

And feel peace

Though maybe the situation is

I have peace

And sometimes do not feel it

To have it

The tallest (16.5 m (54 ft)) peace pole in the world on the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. It is made of a 105 years old Sapele tree. 5 languages (Twi—a local language in Ghana, Hindi, Chinese, Swahili, and Arabic) have been used to express the peace prayer on the pole: “May Peace Be on Earth”.

I’m not sure what to say

Today

A day for remembrance

To respect a President

Who said so

And all the boys

And girls

To men and women

And civilians of all kinds

(were children killed?)

Who died

x

We can’t seek vengeance

Though we went for victory

And that tragically

Is fair to say

We made a war at home

That wasn’t there

Between the rubber drives

And paper drives

And rationed sugar

That was the war at home

We imprisoned

Our own

Now

Remembrance might

Be for learning, too

x

So we are always ready

For the next time

Properly vigilant

With reason

And with passion

x

Victory

Deserved

Marshall plans

After

Win

Too high a cost

We all agree

Rebuild the world

After

Bless the nation

Bless the world

x

Ready at war, which

Has been the

Burden of

A nation

Seek peace

Every day

The Peaceable Kingdom

(x = space)

The Peaceable Kingdom

(Isaiah 11:1-9)

x

Cheetahs wouldn’t have

To kill,

And they could run with their

Great speed for delight

x

There would not be war,

For everything we wanted

Could be gotten

In a better way

x

We’d have peace with each other;

We’d have so much

Extra time

To do good things

x

Peaceable admittedly

Is an antique word,

But it speaks to potential

To talent

And to quantity

x

Who makes this peace?

God does–

But what shall we have

In the mean time?

x

It’s in our time,

Our will

To make it happen

From able to have peace

To having it;

The worth is us and

Our mortal talents

x

The Earth burns,

Weapons are secretly supplied

To war:

It is crazed comfort

(in both aspects)

To wait for an apocalypse

x

We have now–

Heaven, in fact,

Might be waiting for us

Prayer for Angry Neighbor

Prayer for Angry Neighbor

x

I’m going to ignore you

And pray for you

That you find what you want

Not as you want it

(sorry, that’s a spiritual rub)

But as one perfectly

Provides

And you are happy

As you’ve never known

x

I guess that’s not

So much ignoring,

After all

It’s the other stuff

The stuff that you throw

Down as if to say,

Challenge me

I’ll take you on

Though what you want

Is brittle

And could shatter

With what is left

Call them fragments

Call them splinters

Call it defeat

x

That’s probably too much

To pray for now

To keep it simple,

Pray for peace

On the inside for you

A Kind of Peace

A Kind of Peace

x

A weird kind of

Thing

Happens for no reason

A reason

We don’t know

Yet can live with, anyway

x

Spirited

Even takes our words away

Fills us with

A moment when

We see

Each other

x

When we know the world

Enough

To have enough

For being filled of

This other way

Peace Talk

x

What does God demand?

We say humility

In walking

That sounds good

We could let go our weapons

And the meanness

On our faces

And go our way

Not as if

Everyone’s our friend

But that the world

And the world’s God

Anticipates

Agendas,

x

Don’t make a face

That gets you beat

Or killed

And with a face

That says that, should we meet,

It might go all right

x

The thing is

And I guess you know

This is a rule

First for the strong

Memorial Day in the USA

(2021)

x

It is a holiday in the USA

I suppose the sales are good

And there will be

Shiny fireworks

Reminding us the day means,

Well, something

x

There are days like this

Around the world,

As there should be:

Remembrances of those

Who fought and

Died in war

x

The wisdom of strategy

And final choices

Is not on the program;

Like the Light Brigade,

There are those

Who served

Because they served

x

Remember them,

Because their loss

Is the foundation

For unfought

Wars over silent

Battlefields

That were and are

And will be,

Someday

Peaceify

(x = space)

x

x

Peaceify

x

I should pray for love

I’ll pray for peace

I should pray for faith

But I’ll take respect

To keep the world

From exploding

x

There are molecules

Of everything

In everything

We do our best to clean

The rest is undiffused

Or do I mean

Defused

x

There is you in me

And as naturally

Me in you

We have each other

And the answer

To my sibling’s keep

Is yes

x

I’ll butter your bread

You’ll butter mine

We will nosh

Then later sit down

For a meal

x

This is better than

Negotiation

We can assure

That each one has

What each one has

Better than

Mizpah

x

May the Lord watch

Between me and thee

While we are absent

One from another

Mizpah, church fashion

x

Nothing is better

For thee than me

Quaker Oats version

x

I’ve heard

Golda Meir made deals

In her kitchen

Over bread

I hope it’s true

But we can make it true

x

If adversaries sit

In homely comfort

Come to my country

I’ll come to yours

Sit with me
