playing favorites
in the ninth chapter
my favorite Bible story
when the parent
comes to Jesus
for
the child who needs healing
who is thrown by fits
into fire
such an extreme for healing to
which Jesus
says
believe and the child be renewed
to
which the parents
must reply
I believe
and help my unbelief
the formula presented
yet
before Jesus especially
even to doubt
but must
be honest
and the response from Jesus is
that
the child is healed
not that epileptics must be healed
though sick children
from whatever
reason
should be
and for all we are and all we aren’t
we have to open all our hopes
and fears
before the Lord
versing
my second favorite
is a cluster of
verses
from the Psalms about a third through
the verses about
creating a clean hearts
a heart that
is in me
by God
by God
in fact
to renew
as has been made
create in me a clean heart
O God
and renew a right spirit with me
and
cast me not away from they presence
and take not
thy holy spirit
from
me
again
an honest plea
for healing of the self
I guess
even to be close ‘mid all the snares
outside the circle

Create in Me
x
The Spirit of God
Might not
Be inside the tree
But the Spirit
Might dance with the tree
And many trees
From time to time
I don’t know
How things are invested
x
The Spirit of God
Might be in the tree
When exigency
Requires
x
God is a rock
As a metaphor
But not the real thing
Having made the real thing
x
There is that
Burning bush
That burned and didn’t burn
God used
And rearranged
The matter of
The bush in that encounter
x
So maybe with the atoms
Of existence
The Lord loves to live beside
God or God’s agents
Asking for
Rearrangements
From time to time
To suit a miracle
A message for
Sixth-day creations
Who can have God inside
Intertwining
Spirits
When desired

Psalm 51
(one more song)
Create in me
A clean heart,
O God
And renew
A right spirit
Within me
Cast me not
Away from thy
Presence
And take not
Thy holy spirit
From me
Transliteration
And some remembrance
My favorite part
Of psalms
We number at
One hundred fifty,
Paradox in fame
And intimacy
This are teaching,
Which means
Learning
We need God
For new creation
To point to
Art
That in practice
Becomes science
I need God for more
And cannot
Question merit;
Good work matters
But grace invites
Salvation
The chamber
Of my soul
Has many parts
Open for
Parousia
I don’t know how
Spirit of God
Invests
And infiltrates
But my soul will take
Arriving,
When a spark of you
Is born in me
