I don’t know

It’s Friday

It’s raining

We need the rain

The clouds have little texture

At least from here

x

Nothing much to look at

A wet street

Spatter on the windows

We need the rain

x

There is war

In Ukraine

More death today

More wounded

And in Sudan

We’re drawing up our diplomats

Telling tourists

To go home

Choose another

(for now)

x

We know there’s trafficking

Where

Here

Of drugs

Of people

Contraband things that

Otherwise

Could be all right

x

But you know

People

Never people

Sold

Which means someone is

Buying

Where

Here

x

Struggles for freedom’s

Hard enough

On good days in

(relative)

Safe places

x

And they

The captured

Kidnapped

Bought and sold

Are not all

But tend to be

Children

Women

Who

We know

Struggle for freedom

Already

Hard enough

More than should be

Enough

x

On Friday I could cry

But the sky

Provides

As if behooving

I could say

Nature weeps for me

As in

Instead of me

And that

Nature weeps for all of us

In distress

But it is nature’s

Well

Nature

x

That’s all

And that’s enough

The rain

Provides

Other good things

x

But I’m thinking now

There should be

Laws

For freedom

To work within one’s

Bearing

Bearing

Who we are

What can we do

x

And freedom of our bodes

Politic

Personal

That many of us

Think we have

x

Let’s check the laws of nature

And our charters

I think it’s there

Many

Freedoms

Already

There

Officially

And by

Who made rain

x

We may read wet leaves

Or our own pages

Fearfully

Consider

Wonderfully made

And what

To do

With what and whom

When made

When with accountability

Co-making

x

Rain

Tears

Freedoms

Fridays

Notions

Not like the old

Department-store

Departments

(but) Full-blown

Like glass

Full-grown

Into ideas

x

We do

Need these

A good weekend

Please

For you

You deserve it

It’s deserved

x

Does rain mean freedom

I don’t think so

Sometimes

It’s relaxing to watch

To hear

Sometimes

It’s fearful

The median response

Might have something to do

With inconvenience

Maybe this is part

Part Friday

Too

Of freedom

At Last the Rain

x

The rain falls

It is behind me

I should turn

Push things aside

Look out

Listen

Think on justice

As the thunder rolls

The water rolls

The watershed

Has more

After Rain

x

I don’t what to say

There are so many things

I do not know

Movements and people

The inside health of the world

Or the root of evil

x

I could depict a scene

Go to a local park

Or look outside

It’s cooler now, less hazy

A clarity of all the scenes in town

For good or ill

x

Maybe I want

To say something more

Without pedantry

Though to moralize is human

I can only hope for reason

And some fairness to all sides

To win out

In me

x

You

Them

Us

x

Well, it’s the weekend

The heatwave has receded for a while

I have nothing planned

Maybe I’ll take a drive to nowhere

And come back

Richer in at least one way

Than when I left

x

I should walk

x

And you should have your time

I hope it’s good

You need something good

And are so worthwhile

And so deserving

There, moralizing after all

But I’m on your side

A fan

Larger (wider),

An advocate for peace

(smart, not stupid)

Planetwide

For us

x

Understanding venial

Praying for mortal

x

Maybe there’s something

Pursuable,

What is reasonable

With an ingredient of wonderful

Rain

x

Heatwave and thunderstorms

That’s all we got

Church is still on-line,

Though I guess it doesn’t have to be

Watching the delta variant

x

The sermon’s about encouragement

That’s good

Providing it, however, with

Prudence and with wisdom,

Which is better

To say that everyone’s amazing

Overdoes it

In making, it is true

Each life is extraordinary

But for all the lives unmade,

What shall we say?

That there was less extraordinary?

Maybe it’s the application

Of the Pickering social theory

In that it’s how we treat

Each other

And each one

If you want to value life,

Then offer drink safely to everyone

Feed everyone

Make and offer shelter

To everyone

Peace for security

The chance for learning

The chance for work

That complements

x

Sometimes saints are martyred

By pagan foes,

Sometimes by the believing

Church itself

Believing more in institution

And a sanctity in politics

Control and profit

Over faith and vision

x

Savor belief instead

Feed the children

And the youth

And the grown-ups

With all things that we need,

And I will hear the nations

And the corporations

Claim

That we care

Sun on Sunday

x

It’s dim outside

And raining

I hear wet tires

x

A gloomy day

I do not mind

The Addams genes at play,

I suppose,

The kind that make

A lark of dark days

x

I’m a day into

The new shot

Feels like the flu shot

And every vaccine that

I’ve had since

Childhood

The site is sore

x

I don’t mean to comment

I want to respect

The courtesies of others

That are challenged

Only in

Contagious situations,

Where they make

The issues grim

x

Like guns, I guess

We know what we know

And I might be wrong

x

But let’s not make it politics

But practicalities

There is an epidemic

I’ve lost people to it,

Which gives me added rights

To nothing

But my sadness

January enters

Like a wet

Winter is

Allowed

But the ground

In PA is

Spring or

Fall swamp-like

Instead with

Four-year change

Is coming, not

A holiday

I wonder

x

But something

In the USA

We do so that

Change

Keeps things

The same

Not that we

Are the

Exemplar

We believe we are

Or

Should be

Glory and wonder here on little old earth. This shot is from a particularly magical hike through the Sequoia National Forest. We were so up high in the mountains that the clouds decided to settle around us and create a mystical fog all around us.

Coeli

Coeli

The sky is a

Wow

Blue

The kind a robin’s egg

Could say

Hey, you

My color came from you

The green is

Startling, too

As if to say

Surprise!

I was here,

All the time

In this humid place

Of climate change

(yes, it’s real

sorry, children

we’re leaving this

for you)

Maybe for

A change,

The rain last night

Cleared out

The steamy parts

For this morning

If so,

Thank you, rain!

When I lived

Higher up,

It used to happen this way

All the time

Clear sky after

Rain that cleans
