uncommon unsense
the prophet helps
a widow
and
when the prophet needs
ravens helps with food
making up for that business
with the ark
all the people needed food
and so food
fell
needed water
too
which poured for them
from barren places
and so
wandering the wilderness
still cannot
be comfortable
but
at least keep folk alive
meanwhile
by
basics
David thinks he needs Bathsheba
though that is
another kind of interest
not
like food and water
whatever the king might feel
he needs
as he wants
food and
drink
from her
blind
needing sight
the lame to walk
the awful sick to have some healing
that
provides a reason
there are stories
too
of prodigals repenting and returning home
of
good Samaritans while
Samaritans are not credited
so much
of parents withholding stones from children
so that giving
bread
has fulsome space as
well as love
need
and response
and
I suppose when honest
still the answer might be
no
or no
for now
frustrating how the interactions
go
in our relationship with divine
whose terms are
to
keep the evidence
of such
unseen or
otherwise unsensed

Promised Responding
And what
Shall
Happen
When we hear
Like Horton
(only
louder)*
We are here
Meaning
The host of heaven
Small and gargantuan
Depending on
Dimension
And
Dimension’s need
Ready
When we beckon
Or soaring ready
In flight mode
Or on the ground in
Angel
Ranks
Maybe loving us
On fine days
Merely
Or to have to march
(or land)
Upon
Megiddo
To realize apocalypse
And fight for us on
Our side
Meaning the side of all
The believers
Not through possession of
The pride
Of
Victory
So much as that love
By appreciation on
That fine day

*(still, still small voice)
blue face
look at the blue face
do we ever get that close
and the feathers for a crown
as peacocks have
too
this is an impressive bird
no wonder Franklin wanted it
rather than eagles
for a nation’s emblem

this was my response to Grace’s response to the prompt she received from Melissa’s blog (whew); Grace suggested I send it along to Melissa’s blog via posting it here (whew)

An Insignificant Response
I think I heard on the local news
That some of us are going
In addition to the national aid
That I hope is on its way
The UN and EU are already there
With the UK and Russia
The numbers keep increasing
The dead and wounded
Hospitals, themselves damaged,
Are working at more-than-full
Capacity
There is broken glass and blood
All over the city
Like a shining sheet, say
Those who are there
Many miles away,
The blast was heard
Followed by a sonic wave that
Literally knocked people
From a standing posture down
It was a mushroom cloud
For a non-nuclear blast
A little prophecy at work
There are protests
In anger at what happened
Drawing police with tear gas
And rubber bullets
I used to think that could only happen
In another nation from people who
Fear their grip on power
But we have followed precedent
In self-styled, hoped-for despotism
So that
Everything that’s helpful is delayed
Well, we’ll get there, too
And I hope we stay there for a while
To help, most of all
Maybe to learn something, too
About our global neighbors
About the sheen of darkened glass
That covers us
Dusting by laying dust
Over our light
An experiment in democracy
For a few centuries, now
That can’t help but be a model
One way or another
Pray, help Lebanon
Let your angels work in Beirut
It is a sectarian
Sometimes the Christian fight the Muslims
Sometimes it goes the other way
Now, it should not matter
And, inshallah, it should not matter
Ever again

Gatherings
There are many thoughts
In the in-between
Waking, prior to rising
But now there’s light and rising
Ablutions, coffee-making
And they’re mostly gone
Damn
There were some good things
There
Now I have to work it
Strive to half-express
Not give everything away
Not only because I do not know
But also so that, you know,
There is something
For you
It’s all for you at last
I will be absent
This is what you will have
Copyright and other
Social niceties aside
This it’s yours
As anyone who sets these down
Might say
It’s all for you
So what do we have?
We are in a circle
(please sit down)
Taking part in great
Ordinary meaning
These circles happening anywhere
Or so they should
To share responses
And like Pietists
To temper revelation
Our event horizon, so to say,
Is now and what’s next
A crisis, maybe
Always an opportunity
Remember to be civil
Give everyone a turn
Don’t let one thing take over
Though everything is bias
That’s okay
It has to be
It’s natural
Impulsive
It’s how we were made
And if you don’t go for making
It’s practical, alone
Our circle might contract
Better to expand
To divide when a certain number’s reached
Nothing wrong with chapters
We can communicate
We’ll need an index
But this will be
Good turning and good living
