Debby
the storm has arrived
our part in it
the water runs
through branches of the trees
as if the branches
sponsor
and organize
a fountain from the sky
out front
it’s hard to see
through screens
and wide drops on the screens
their rivulets
translucent lines
that add
a close-in feeling
to a field
of fog
or mist
the falling rain
all from forever
flash-flooding
well
is flashing
as a warning
today
a kairos
to the organized
who have
a rush hour to maintain
it’s called areal
when the flood
be truly
local
when the streets become temptation
for drivers in cars
sure (drivers
that is)
it can’t really be
that deep
and really is
there are the parts
south and east
mostly
I guess
where like the ever-
rolling-stream washes crucial things away
like lives
and also stays
for days
I’m inside
dry on the second floor
I think
and with power for now
don’t think that I’m
not grateful
for I am
and hope you might be on the better
side of high and dry
as well
busy with bags
or something else or
wet
resting
from it all
I can only hope
straightforwardly
and
yes
and
pray
that you are safe
my dears

Here,
There’s food for energy
And water
I know, for many
An easy trip to the store
x
War ruins this,
Of course,
There and by extension
My shopping receipts attest
All our bills
x
There has been the war of greed
There and here
x
Though
Away from war
Except for greed
I don’t have to fear for bullets
Or wait for other missiles small and large
Cry the air,
Find my flesh
Find yours
x
The planet will reclaim
The Earth to wait
And us to judge
Well or poorly
The killing of each other
Loss
Hardship
And disease
x
Our tries everywhere
To build
To know each other
Energize the world
Food
Water
Safety
A just ambition
Peace

Psalm 37
a song of earthly rendering
When news is so bad
Coupled with lack of opportunity
Everything is weighted down, dear Lord
I don’t know how to make it better
To see it better
To feel it better
Please, what shall I do
In past work, we see
That you are there
That you follow us through mountain passes
Over peaks
And in valleys so blinding in fog over the way
That we could be underneath earth as well as above
You bring us home, dear Lord
And are with us in safety
Or in peril
Calm our fears so that we might enjoy some relaxation in peace
Some soft moments in our day
Some mercy on the way
Let your justice prevail, O Lord, so much better than ours
May your help be plentiful
Your presence touchable
If only upon
The surface of our spirits
Because we can keep it dense and difficult
To allow you further in
Pardon me and be with me
Even when I am poor in realizing you
