Gross Tuesday, Then We Fast
In USA (and elsewhere, though
The images I see are from my
Own), it is the time of Mardi Gras
Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday
(Shriving meaning to divest), or
Fast Nacht—a fluid season before
The dryness of Lent, a day of excess
Substance before lean Lenten days
Commence, if only in perspective
Here in Pennsylvania, we have snow;
But in the deep South, look out:
A French and Creole, native, Caribbean
Mélange of festival—a celebration that
In winter shouts, We are still here
And, except for the crime, why not

Definitely New Orleans and Marti Gras is a place to go on my bucket list. Haven’t decided what or if I’m going to give up something for lent yet. How about you?

I’ve been preoccupied looking for a devotional for Lent and so have forgotten what to give up. Silly me. I watch too much television, though often it’s on simply for the noise. If I got rid of that distraction, though, I could probably concentrate better on reading and writing. So maybe too much TV is what I’ll give up. What might you decide?

Oh! So love how you describe them! Winter isn’t over yet, eh? Be safe!

Thank you! It’s snowing here today. Nothing like the storm two weeks ago that brought with it nearly three feet of snow. I hope the weather’s good where you are!
