Psalm 42
song about who judges
Lord, I hope
My enemies never
Have another good
Day
Which is why
It’s good that I don’t
Judge with divine
Power but
Leave that up to
You
It’s your job
You do it perfectly

I prefer Christopher in conversation. In writing, I use C L Couch because it’s a genderless form of my name and, frankly, easier—I have severe writer’s cramp. I mean to be a poet writing spiritual and occasional verse. The photographs used permanently here—for the banner, for my profile—were taken by Debra Danielson, a photographer and friend. You may enjoy more of her work at debra.danielson.org. If you would credit me when quoting my work, I'd be thankful. As I am thankful for your presence here.

This is great. Perfectly put conflicting feelings.

Thanks! Wanting to judge, letting the right one judge. You’re right–it’s a conflict.

This made me laugh a little. It’s true we don’t usually wish our enemies well or “turn the other cheek.” But I think you are exactly right: the judgement is up to God.

It is kind of wickedly funny to wish what we wish upon our enemies. But, yeah, God judges better. Thanks!

This is so wonderful–I can relate too well, as I constantly remind myself that I must pray for my enemies to be blessed (when my insides scream for them to be tormented). I’m glad God is God–I’d make a horrible one… Hope your weekend is abundantly blessed!

I hear that. I’d make a horrible God as well. Imagining the world in my image makes me shudder. I do pray for my enemies, though sometimes it’s only because I have to. Dinner and a movie with a friend tonight. I hope your weekend is going splendidly. Thank you!

Yes, “shudder” is a perfect description–I would be so Old Testament ‘mean’…and I’m not proud to say that. It’s good that we can be honest about our human frailties–that’s the only way God can do His work of transformation, ‘from glory to glory as we behold Him’ 🙂 If we hide in pride, we’re sunk 🙂
Your evening sounds very fun–would love to know what movie you saw, and I’m always interested in ‘dinner’! I’m between church services as I write this–so my weekend is already great (I attend online, and go to the 2 Saturday services so I don’t have to get up early on Sunday…such a wimp!). And today I’m cooking a big pot of chowder–wish you were next door, as I’d fix you up a bowl 🙂

I’ve no doubt I’d enjoy the chowder!
My friend cooked something special, something he’s allowed to eat while his wife is away (she can’t eat carbs). It was an Asian dish with an extraordinary blend of spices, vegetables, shrimp, and rice. We watched an earthy movie about redeeming life, Begin Again. On Sunday morning, I visited a church where I led a children’s talk during the service. A versatile weekend, not always how it goes.
Sounds as if your week is off to a great start!
