In conversation, I prefer Christopher. My mom named me after Christopher Robin, after all. In writing, I use “C L Couch” (or, more simply, “c l couch”) because the form is genderless and also frankly easier to use. I have awful writer’s cramp. I am an educator more or less retired, more or less due to disability. At present, I live in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (USA). My writing here I mean to be occasional and also devotional. Either or both. The banner and profile photographs are by my friend and peer Debra Danielson. More of Debbie’s work to be enjoyed is at debradanielson.org. Thanks to each of you and both and all for coming to my blog.

“hope-openings” I like these words. Places where you can breathe and there is no steam, or hot sweaty air to choke you. Also, I think it is a kenning, amd that delighted me. I hope the world finds these Hope-openings, I which to survive through too. Great write.

I wasn’t satisfied enough to post the poem until I found or made that word. It would be great to have such places in the world. I hadn’t thought in such a widespread way. Thank you, Mandi!

i agree with Mandi! 🙂 That term is beautifully made, brother. I can sense some tiredness in this piece but there is a hopeful end, I guess. 🙂

Well, part of the poem is autobiographical. Since coming back from visiting family in a higher and more northern place, I have had an especially challenging time of breathing. Today in the news more heat and humidity were announced. So you saw the tiredness right, sister!

Today the humidity broke a little. I enjoyed the change. Thank you, sister!
