Unburying Life
I know I lead a life apart
I’m not sure what it’s for
Being alive or being apart
The best thing I seem to
Do for now is eke out words
On paper in a wide electric
Way
Like a fisher near new water
I cast about the promise of
Dawn blue and deep green
Is my better season spent
Right here
Because I write for you

And you do it beautifully! You are a master with words! Thank you for using a God given talent.

I thank you! If it is a talent, certainly God gave it. Thank you for your affirmation–and simply having been in touch!

Beautiful poem Chistopher. I like how it shows that people apart or alone (through out their days or sometimes in life in general) are useful and can still “cast nets,” be fisher’s of men, through their writing. You most certainly are. Thank you 🙂

You’re welcome–and thank you, Mandi. Writing is a solitary act, even if our aim is to reach out with what we say. Sometimes that isolation is more keenly felt. I’m happy you are there–writing, too.

those last six lines are gorgeous both in language and in meaning, brother. life’s worth is truly not about who you spend it with but who you spend it for. ❤ this is a refreshing read perfect for a rainy Monday morning. ❤

If this picked up a rainy Monday morning then, sister, I’m gratified. I agree with you that life’s investment is to be spent for others. I’m happy you enjoy the latter part of this. Sometimes the resolution of a work happens almost spontaneously. Usually, I find the end a grind to work out.
