Morning Dark
morning dark
it’s longer now
and night arrives
earlier—the
longer time for
black sky to have
its way
and in equinox-
thinking, this is
just
for we should not
fear the dark,
since there is
dreaming there

I prefer Christopher in conversation. In writing, I use C L Couch because it’s a genderless form of my name and, frankly, easier—I have severe writer’s cramp. I mean to be a poet writing spiritual and occasional verse. The photographs used permanently here—for the banner, for my profile—were taken by Debra Danielson, a photographer and friend. You may enjoy more of her work at debra.danielson.org. If you would credit me when quoting my work, I'd be thankful. As I am thankful for your presence here.

Awww. Beautiful thoughts, brother! And indeed the nights are getting longer here in my space on earth. It will be longer too as Christmas nears. ❤

Thank you, sister! We might not share the seasons’ climes, but we share the time of day throughout the year. That’s pleasing to know.

I love the hope at the end, we shouldn’t fear dark because there we dream. Indeed, it can truly be a reprieve. I read we often sort things out in our dreams, problem solve as it were, while we rest. Hope your rest is well.

Thank you. I’ve been falling asleep late, but it’s sleep. Certainly better than none.

I like your poem morning dark, night arrives earlier, it’s the time of the year, when days are shorter and nights are longer.
I hope you are doing well.
