Sunday Morning after Sleeping for a Change
I’m not sure what to say today
It’s a sunny day outside
Clear and cold with an edge
Like runners on ice skates
The sun is winter-tilting, so
I can see enough
Not all the dust motes, thank you
But like the movie,
Everything Is Illuminated, all the same
I could make a point
But the day is its own
There’s meaning in the pattern of
The leaves against the window panes,
Enough philosophy for two
Whoever might join me
Who’s already here
No prosperity but the pleasure of one’s company

Christopher. I’m sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to comment. I like your poem and the comparison of “cold with an edge” with “illumination and the beauty of winter. Your speakers seems starved for conversation w/ someone to find the meaning of frost and talk/philosophize with. I’m sorry about that. I wonder if he could reach out to any congregation nearby, to have a copy of the service to listen to, to have a pastor who would visit every couple of weeks ? I thought this might help & know Anglican/Lutheran are very close in hymns, praise songs, and liturgy from my brother who attends one now with friends. But, I will also try to comment more to him. Although I’m amazed with his profilic writing & think that is a wonderful sign of growth. Hugs and happy Sunday. The Lord Be With You (And Also With You). 🙂
