Born Ready
There are two
Quite often
And some more
We work in company
Best of all,
It seems
I guess we’re made that way
Porous, with no corners
But with openings
Ready in the making
To receive
Atomic intentions
Molecules that move
From skin to skin
One by one
We each remain intact
But space and matter have
Determined
All the places on
Each one of us that
Are ready to receive
Like sponge to sponge
Life like water
Fuller for the moving
And arriving
Tidal pools that live
Along the shore
Of every cosmic
And each metaphoric
Ocean

I do like this one! The progress of the water from skin moisture to be sponged off, to the beach pools then the ocean, and the cosmic space above.

Thank you–I’m really pleased that you like it!

Water in all its aspects lends itself to metaphor so well, and this is a lovely example.

Yes, we are so porous, and sadly too able to receive that which might harm us, but then we need closeness with others, metaphoric oceans that we are.

Yes, I guess we have to be open to the good and the bad. We can take either in. Hopefully, we’ll find company and community that elevate and embolden living out the good.
Thank you, Cathy!

I don’t want to be open to the bad of course, but I must be aware of it – the virus, the persistent and pervasive racism, the wars and poverty all over the world. I hope your vision comes to fruition. 🙂

Now that you mention it, I think those of us who can should be aware of all the sources of evil or good that has been twisted. This awareness can make us stronger (not in a Nietzsche way), even after tussles with the bad. I wouldn’t recommend this way for everyone, but we could identify sources of pain and anger and mistrust that could help us deal effectively in our hearts and lives and in the world.

We do tend to have binary thinking, Christopher. Good and bad. Right and wrong. With me or against me. Love and hate. I won’t go on.

Yes, we do. Maybe it’s easier since it seems we live separately from each other. When we get together and get to know each other, sometimes seeing only one way or the other is fuzzied.
Thanks, Len!
