Wishing in Retrograde
(after which the planet does return)
I don’t know
Everything seems stupid
What I’m writing, the images I’m
Looking for to go with it
(my looking, not the image-making)
If an apology will do,
I’m sorry I don’t have something better
And I want everyone to have
A good weekend
A safe weekend
In my nation, we’re expressing a split mind
On the one hand, everything is opening
On the other, the disease is worse than ever
Cases are spiking
Like a medieval mace in a museum
We’re number one for sickness,
Loss of life in the world
Like my state being first
For the worst roads
Is it any wonder
Other lands are barring us?
I wouldn’t want me, either
There are stories of break-ins into Canada
From the USA
Clearly, the wall is put up along the
Wrong direction
Having me think the purpose will be turned
Around, and from everywhere
We won’t be walling others out
But others wanting us walled in
Which isn’t everything, by far
The world is suffering
We should take a chance to help
Maybe our help would be accepted
You know, the WHO
And UN take us back
Maybe after Monday
In January 2021
The world will have us back

Maybe in January you won’t be led by a morally bankrupt cretin. Let’s hope so. And the image you chose is a good one. It reminds me of the Nasa image of the earth I used yesterday.

I certainly hope for a new leader. I’m glad you like the image. The artist gave no title or description, but I thought of a planet in rotation.
I hope you have a pleasant weekend with, among other things, enjoyable summer weather. Thank you!

Thank you. Cooler weather would be appreciated. Two days of 104°F is quite enough thank you very much.

That’s awful. We’ve been in the nineties, which is onerous.

I made one little tweak to the last verse of ‘Desiderata’. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the U.S. is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. Have a great weekend, Christopher.

Thank you, Len. It’s now Sunday night. The weekend was mostly quiet, which was fine. I try to feel peace. I’ll keep trying. I guess it’s the devil way to have something happen that is beyond what I thought was the border of outrage. You’re right about the world. Usually, I’m one of the first to say there are many fine, if not astounding things in the world.

Felt the tiredness and the tinge of hope here, brother. In as much as I want to escape the news, it is part of my job so I somehow know what’s happening in your country. I pray for better days to come.
Also, these lines pack a punch:
Is it any wonder
Other lands are barring us?
I wouldn’t want me, either

I keep up with the news as well. It’s a hard practice, but I think it’s smart. It takes extra effort here for me to find out what’s happening in the wider world, though there are resources. I’m really pleased you like those lines. I revised them a little to try to give them more energy. (Yay!)
Thank you, sister. Have a good, new week.
