Advent 4
(in pandemic time)
x
The test was negative
An early Christmas present
So I’m sick with something else
A strain of flu the shot
Could not take cover of,
A cold that has
Gone deep
x
A sliced-up immune system
Trauma, medication
Treatments, operations
But I’m here
And should be
For Christmas day
x
And, yes, I’m thankful
I’d rather be
Knit together better
But I’m here
Have all appendages
Insides busted up, here and there
While finding aging
To be a cranky business
‘Tis the season
x
‘Tis the season
The wreath is almost done
The Hanukkah lights
Have been done for days
The early miracle
The rituals continue
Lights and green and red and gold
And have I finished all the gathering
For the holiday?
You know, I think I could say
“Stop” and “ready”
Anytime
x
I hope the world
Beyond sectarian
Has a fine Christmas time
The solstice will happen soon
With tiny increments toward
Spring
Cold weather
Hot toward the south
Until it chills again
But Christmastide all over
All kinds of holidays
With expectations
x
Maybe we may take
Some freer, fuller breaths
Because much of the world
Is slowing down
And ceasing for a time
And, if not,
We can imagine
x
Fill the time
With something good
With something stopped
With easy joy

Good deal! I was concerned about you. My son just got over it and had a much harder time than my daughter and son-in-law. Scary and reactions to steroids they gave him, sleep deprivation and anxiety through the roof. But he’s ok now. I am quarantining a bit longer, but even hanging in over-crowded emergency rooms and no vaccination, I didn’t get it, not that I believed for a minute vaccination would save me. I did take prophylactic ivermectin and colloidal silver nose spray and gargled a lot with that stuff with peroxide in it. Seems a miracle after over 20 hours in two waiting rooms! My test was negative and I have some home tests to repeat in a couple days, but so far I’ve made it 12 days. I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks, Lynn. I’m happy your son and daughter and son-in-law are over having it. I’m sorry to hear about what your son went through, especially. I’m delighted to hear that you yourself all right. Most of the things I have to do seem like common-sense things to do for a bad cold. I should be coming ’round. I hope your holiday time is terrific!
