blue face
look at the blue face
do we ever get that close
and the feathers for a crown
as peacocks have
too
this is an impressive bird
no wonder Franklin wanted it
rather than eagles
for a nation’s emblem

this was my response to Grace’s response to the prompt she received from Melissa’s blog (whew); Grace suggested I send it along to Melissa’s blog via posting it here (whew)

Hi, Christopher! I love your response to Grace’s response to my prompt.🤭 What great attention to detail and appreciation for these wonderful creatures. In researching a bit, I found that turkeys’ faces are blue when they are content. I did not know that before. Thanks for writing and hope you’ll join in again sometime!☺️

Thank you, Melissa! I enjoyed the photo and Grace’s response and then working on my own response. I’m thankful for your encouragement. I tend to get nervous with hashtagging, pinbacking (which I really still don’t know how to do), and other things that others do so easily. But this was fun and meaningful, and I look forward to trying it again. And, again, Thank you.

Oh, yes, and the turkeys are magnificent, despite our tendency to eat them.

Nah, the majesty of a soaring bald eagle compared to the flowery, useless peacock? Ha. All show. I could go on, but I’ll leave it there. Ha.

This comment is like a peacock.🦚❤️

p.s. He wanted the turkey, right? Which you are comparing to a peacock? Same answer only not quite so much. Ha.

Well, as far as I know, we don’t want to eat the eagle. So that’s something. I don’t want to eat a peacock, but I understand some people do (and do). Our holiday and deli industries might break if we stopped consuming turkeys. Which makes which bird mean more to us, I wonder. I agree about the splendor in the soaring eagle, but the other birds are cool as well. Turkeys have a complex language with each other, and of course they are the inspiration for the handprint construction craft each child in school should make once. It’s great to hear from you both! Have a great weekend, birds and all!
