don’t park here this week

how easy
the thrums go to the heart
when
along the street the utilities crew digs in

no gun
or bomb
no presage of the falling
of
the building from
the war

an easy day
with
some signs out for warning

too easy to wonder
on
foundations
and like the parable what they might be
set on themselves

what is deep down should be rock
though
as there had been oceans
maybe sand as
well

so it gets ancient
even
how to deal with shifting ground
that
is vibrations for a day and
what destroys for
real
that could be an accident
or a design
for
destruction in a land of our global neighbors

anyway

to present
