quarters for clarity

quarters for clarity

it’s dark
as shorter days to the north
arrive
which some will
like
some will not
and we could wonder what the change
is all about
not
scientifically but for our attitude
and character to ask of
a creator
why create a world in tension with a sun
and other bodies
to
go through the changing times
inside-
out
we do

years and seasons travel differently
and elsewhere
we
could find things more even

time and tide
how many times for fallow
growth
and harvest

how much
leaning in or learning away
from the main star
if ever
tilting one way or another

maybe the changing situation that
we bear
has
to do with alteration
that must happen
always

say
to fields and ourselves
year
quarter in the year and as an age
might evolve or
could
de-evolve

and such to happen to sentience
and our awareness
that
there are processed to count
as
well as things that happen
irregardless

and we might enjoy sameness and should
adapt
to
alternates
because we’ll have both and
how
would we know on another world

but we can manage
SADs
notwithstanding
and with some help in
all
our challenges

which might be learning from our own astronomy
as well
that many things occur without
so
much isolation
and we should get used to both as the tree
falling
in the wood with no one still
makes a sound and that
together
we make sounds through all our senses
we
can be aware of

especially the siren call for need
and
if we at large are aware that static can get
challenged
we can respond to each
other
and through sameness and
difference
we may

coda

if we can learn this from Earth and sun
moon and seasons
then
we might go on to consider how change
might be a standard
in
all the cosmos

as well
as
yes
what remains the same
which might be the maker
more
than what is made

as creator
it might be that
God
is
in the way of God
the same
yet God of change as
well

In conversation, I prefer Christopher. My mom named me after Christopher Robin, after all. In writing, I use “C L Couch” (or, more simply, “c l couch”) because the form is genderless and also frankly easier to use. I have awful writer’s cramp. I am an educator more or less retired, more or less due to disability. At present, I live in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (USA). My writing here I mean to be occasional and also devotional. Either or both. The banner and profile photographs are by my friend and peer Debra Danielson. More of Debbie’s work to be enjoyed is at debradanielson.org. Thanks to each of you and both and all for coming to my blog.
